4th of July Cake

It's been hot here in Boise

It's been a hot summer here in Boise so far.  Temperatures up to 100's most of this week.  4th of July it was pretty hot as well.  Everyone thankfully has air conditioning in Boise, Idaho.

Summer is officially here in Boise

Cathy called from Alaska to tell me it had gotten to be 70 degrees in Anchorage and a regular heatwave.  Well it's been in the low 90's here in Boise and it's a heatwave; I really can't take the heat like climbing three flights of stairs and trying to drag groceries up the stairs.  Neighbor kids who live in the apartments who are out having fun but scream at all hours.  And the barbeques.  Smoke coming into my apartment and I am allergic to all kinds of smoke.   Plus sweltering in my car that is usually 10 degrees hotter than outside.  Summer is definately not my favorite time of year!  And the grass isn't always greener on the otherside!   Niece Jacqueline with friends enjoying summertime in the gorge.     My niece Cindy Gunderson's grandchildren enjoying summer in Puget Sound. A puppy dog getting her hair did at the beauty parlor.     Bratty kids just happy school is out! Teachers happy that they don't have to put up

We never know the sorry in someone else's heart

Talked to my sister Doris today who just lost her husband.  She said she's okay until everyone leaves and that is when she cries.  I've often done that myself when I've been sick, or tired, lonely, or had people not be so nice to me, or losing loved ones.  It's then when God is there.  He can see the pain in your heart and your tears.

People stealing at church

Why do the worst kind of people go to church? I've been a member of my church 43 years now & it seems the worst kind of people attend church.   I've had them leave me on the side of the road on the way to the temple, have had women throw things away that belonged to me when moving from Alaska w/o my permission, & I've been judged I don't know how many times by these hypocrites. I thought when I left Alaska I left the "ugliness" behind... but apparently not.  Since I've been in my current ward a woman took me to an enrichment meeting and was commenting on fat men who don't wear shirts & making fun of them, and other comments about my weight.  This woman is just plain ugly. I should have said--"It's too bad all the "ugly" people don't put sacks over their heads so we don't have to look at them."  But I'm not that mean. Now I've had books I put out on a RS table taken from me. I called the RS pr

Brother-in-law Bernie Ward passed away

My brother-in-law Bernie Ward's who is my sister Doris's husband passed away April, 25th, 2014.  He had a blood clot on his lung.  He is being buried in Medford, Oregon.

Happy Easter!

Easter will be here next week.  Finally got my Easter newsletter for Relief Society printed off.  I will probably just stay home on Easter after church.  Looking forward to the beautiful choir presentation however. My brother-in-law Bernie Ward's isn't doing that great.  He's in the hospital and may have lung cancer.  He's been intubated.  I'm sure my sister Doris is worried sick.  So many have been so sick since returning from Alaska to the 48; sister Janis who almost didn't make it after knee surgery and blood clot to her lung, Carolyn with her Open Heart Surgery in November, and now this.  All I can do is pray for them.

Sissy Marie

So thankful for Sissy Marie, my four-year old calico I got at a Animal Shelter in Anchorage, Alaska before I moved to Boise.  Sissy had been abandoned by her family two times and I felt like so much like that poor cat. I think animals sometimes give us a lot more love than humans are even capable of doing.  Anyway, she is as ornery as ever:  loves tearing up toilet paper, and cries if she doesn't have her canned cat food everyday.  How much I love this little animal.

Spring is finally here!

Springtime is finally here, although winter's in Boise, Idaho are not as long as Wasilla, Alaska.  Springtime puts me in mind of the resurrection of Christ when all things are made new again.  I am thankful for our Heavenly Father who gave us this beautiful earth, and his son who died on the cross just for us.

Snowing again

I left Alaska in 2012 to get away from the snow!  It's snowing again in Boise.  Yucky!

Be my valentine

Whether making cute homemade valentines or cupcakes in a pan, valentine's is kind of a fun time of year don't you think?

Being abusive to God's creatures

I sometimes go on my niece's blog because she is very creative & artistic.  But when she mentioned on her blog that she makes her 20 year old senior cat sleep outside in the cold and snow that didn't set well with me.  She has made it a box with a heating pad for the poor animal.  She downloaded a picture of the cat and it looks half dead.  This is the same niece who many years ago said that I lived in darkness!  Also commented last year that I was the obnoxious aunt noone could stand. Now I know I'm not a perfect person, but abuse to animals and children is about as low as you can get.  And then to pretend to be the perfect "Mormon" family.  This is why I became inactive in my church so many years because of people like them beating their kids and acting so innocent and self-righteous at church. God forgive me for saying this!  But I can't stand animal & children abusers!

When I was a flapper

I had a bishop in Alaska tell me I needed a life.   He said this because I had made the mistake of asking for a food order in the richest state in the union, and richest church in the world: LDS.  He thought I should get a job when I've had cancer, diabetes, and a chronic lung disease.  A person who has worked most of her life and put herself through college. Did he know I used to love to dance?  When I was 21 I was in a roadshow in my church in Portland, Oregon and was a flapper.  My dad was dying of cancer that same year.

Being a little more kind to others

Wouldn't it be nice if people could be a little kinder to one-another in this world?

Cute online crafts to make at home

We used to have Super Saturday at church in Wasilla, Alaska.  We had so much fun at these craft fairs.  In my current ward at the Hillside Ward in Boise they just don't have much creativity I believe.  I asked to do the RS bulletin board and each month I have a theme.  I also photocopy copies of crafts and recipes for the ladies but because of copyright laws I can't do them at church.  So I've been making up newsletters to give to the letters and including pictures of crafts and recipes.  Who says that isn't creative?
